Early wintry mix, rainy day for Wednesday

WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10AM for MERCER AND LAWRENCE COUNTIES FOR THE POTENTIAL FOR ICY ROADS WITH FREEZING RAIN OR DRIZZLE.

Be alert for icy roads, especially where snow pack exists.  

Warmer this morning, with temperatures in the low to mid 30’s in Mercer and Lawrence counties.  Mid to upper 30’s in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana.  

Rain for much of the day today with a half inch to 1.25″ possible by this evening. Melting snow will also add to the standing water.   Be alert for ponding on roads, with some storm drains covered in snow.  High in the mid 40’s.  

RAIN, MIX TO SNOW OVERNIGHT

Colder air pushes East overnight, and the rain will change to snow showers.  There could be a 2 to 3 hour period of freezing rain or sleet as we transition to snow.  Accumulation of a trace to 2″ by Daybreak Thursday.  Overnight low in the mid to upper 20’s.  

SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS FOR THURSDAY MORNING

Snow showers and light lake effect snow showers are possible Thursday morning.  Cloudy and colder for the afternoon.  High only around 30°.

ARCTIC AIR MAKES A COMEBACK TO END THE WEEK

Another surge of arctic air will move into the Great Lakes Thursday night and into Friday.  Low Thursday night in the uppper single-digits.  High Friday only in the lower teens.  

WARMING INTO SUNDAY WITH AFTERNOON SNOW

High in the upper 20’s Sunday with afternoon snow showers.  Even warmer on Monday, with highs in the upper 30’s.  A wintry mix possible. 

COLDER INTO MID WEEK

Scattered snow showers Tuesday as another cold front moves through.  High in the mid 20’s. 

Chance for light snow or flurries, high in the middle teens next Wednesday.
