Hubbard senior Lukas Mosora is one of those players you want on your team.
Plain and simple, he’s a winner and an all-around athlete for the Eagles. He’s an All-Conference performer in both football and baseball plus a straight-A student, earning him the honor of our “33 Student Athlete of the Week.“
Mosora may stand just 5 feet 7 inches, but his competitive drive stands much taller.
“I have to be smarter than everybody. I have to be quicker because I have this little chip on my shoulder,“ Mosora said. “That you have to be a little bit better at this, a little bit better at that so I can be better overall as a player.“
Mosora used that fire to become a force on the football field. He led his team with 400 tackles over the past two seasons at linebacker. He’s twice been named 1st Team All-State in Ohio and helped the Eagles win an All-American Conference Championship as a senior.
‘When I was a ball boy and LJ Scott and Tyler Taafe were playing, I saw all the success they had and that’s just something I’ve wanted ever since I watched them play. So being able to finally do a little bit of what they’ve done is exciting to me, makes me proud,” Mosora said.
Mosora is just as competitive on the baseball diamond as an All-Conference outfielder and pitcher.
He’s led his team in hitting the past two years, batting well over .400.
“I try to be just as much of a leader on the diamond as I am on the football field,“ Mosora said. “I feel like I’m rounded just as much on the field as I am batting.“
Off the field, Mosora leads the charge in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA and is on track to be valedictorian. Next year, he’s attending the University of Akron to study pre-med in hopes of becoming a physician one day.
“My mom told me when I was younger if I maintained a 4.0 GPA all through high school she’d buy me a car, so that was always something that drove me to do well,” Mosora said.
We asked him, so do you have the car now? Mosora responded with a smile, “I got the car, yeah.“
