There might only be 24 hours in a day, but Jackson-Milton’s Ashley Cameron makes the most of every single one of them.
She’s a three-sport standout for the Blue Jays, but still finds time for countless service opportunities.
Plus, she’s a straight-A student, earning Ashley the honor of our “33 Student Athlete of the Week.”
“I’m a very happy person and I smile a lot, but when it comes the court I’m all business and no play,” said Cameron.
Ashley is a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court. She’s a three-year starter for the Blue Jays and lone senior, serving as a captain on this year’s team. Ashley’s a tough player to stop, averaging a double-double this season.
“I can eat, sleep and breath basketball,” said Cameron. “I love to be in the gym. If you don’t know where I’m at, you can always find me in the gym or studying.”
And she’s right, Ashley is always busy and always on the go. She’s an All Conference performer in volleyball and track as well. Plus, serves as President of Student Council, Secretary of her class, and Treasurer of National Honor Society. She’s often asked the question, how do you do simply everything?
“Oh all the time, they’re like how do you have time to hang out with your friends and stuff? But honestly, I do and I manage it all which is insane. Making sure that I have time to do my homework or time to volunteer because I love helping people. That’s my favorite thing to do besides playing sports.”
Ashley has put in over 200 service hours and plans to enter the Medical Field as a nurse. After all, she’s a straight-A student, with a 4.0 GPA and on track to be class valedictorian.
“Personally for me, I could never settle for something lower than an “A”,” said Cameron. “Getting a “B” on an assignment is equivalent to losing a game. I always want to work as hard as I can to get better and to encourage my teammates to get better too.”
