Cortland, OH (WYTV) – Lakeview’s Addie Becker is one of those players you just don’t forget, not only for her play on the court, but for her personality off it. The Bulldogs senior is one of the area’s top scorers on one of the top teams this season. Plus, she also sets the bar high in the classroom…that’s why she’s our Student Athlete of the Week.
“My personality…I’m definitely competitive and I’m hard working,” said Becker. “But if you talk to anyone that knows me they’ll tell you that I laugh a lot, I joke a lot, and I definitely have a lot of fun on and off the court.”
Needless to say, Addie’s personality is just as big as her game. She averages a double-double this season, at 18 points and 10 rebounds per game…and is closing in one 1,000 career points.
“I just feel like when I’m on the court, I go to a whole new world and it’s so amazing to me to step on that court and be in that situation,” she said. “[My teammates] respect me but at the same time, they’re my friends and we all just have a blast. Everywhere we go, we do a lot of team bonding.”
Addie is the lone senior captain on a team that’s 18-1 this season, but she’s also a leader in the classroom, ranking number one with a 4.0 GPA and serving as President of National Honor Society.
“Being a student athlete, it’s something I take a lot of pride in,” said Becker. “Knowing that there’s a lot of kids that can do the student part and do well in school but also being an athlete and there’s a lot of kids that can just be an athlete, but being a student-athlete.”
That hard work has paid off…Addie plans to play basketball in college, but she’ll never forget her time as a Bulldog.
“The saying holds true, I bleed blue, so I love Lakeview. My dad actually has a bulldog and he’s in the team pictures this past year. I know I’m gonna look back and be like wow, that was a blast and honestly, I’ve loved every second here at Lakeview.”
