The Hubbard boys soccer team made history Saturday night, earning their first ever boys soccer district championship after topping Howland 3-2 in the Division II Niles District Final.

The two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime when Hubbard’s Anthony Gagliardi broke the tie, putting home a loose ball off a cross to make it 2-1.

With less than six minutes left in the game, Howland’s Austin Stassinis slotted home a free kick from 22-yards out to even the score in the final minutes.

But the Eagles weren’t done, just moments later AJ Trobek put home the game-winner, giving Hubbard their first district championship.

The Eagles advance to face West Geauga Wednesday at Twinsburg High School at 7PM
