Girard ties Newton Falls on “Play For PINK Night”

GIRARD, OH (WYTV) – The Girard and Newton Falls boys soccer teams played to a draw Tuesday night as the game ended 2-2.

It was a night to fight for a cure, though, as the Indians hosted Play For PINK Night, with proceeds and donations going to Breast Cancer research.

There was a honoree ceremony following the JV game.

As for the game itself, the goalkeepers were the stars early as Newton Falls Kaden Myers and Girard’s Bailey McDermott made several saves to keep the game scoreless.

Shortly after the half though, the scoreless tie was broken by Stephen Gamble who fired from 25-yards out and put it away in the upper corner off the post.
