AKRON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Champion Softball Team topped Cardington-Lincoln 5-0 to win the Division III state championship Saturday at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.
Cassidy Shaffer hit a pair of home runs and finished with 5 RBI’s in the win.
Junior Allison Smith struck out ten while allowing just three hits on the day.
The Golden Flashes have now won three straight state crowns. They have finished as state champion in six of the last nine years.
Champion ends the championship campaign with a record of 30-3.
The Golden Flashes now have nine softball state titles in program history which ties an OHSAA state record.
