2016 Niles Softball Preview

2016 Niles Softball Preview

Head Coach: Danielle Dado, 1st season

Record: 3-13 (2-5), AAC White

Key Losses: The Dragons lost two starting outfielders (Hailey Frederick and Alexis Petrich) and their starting first baseman (Braley Hale).

Key Returnees: Niles welcomes back a senior laden team led by Sara Marz (SS), Hannah Wharton (P), Ashley Ellwood (C), Lexi Blaine (3B), Camerin Harkins (1b/OF), and Taylor Ziegler (1B/OF). Also, there is a group of juniors and sophomores who will play an important role in the team’s success in 2016. Sophomore Zia Williams and freshman Julia Carson will be looked at to contribute this season as well.

Outlook: Former assistant Danielle Dado takes over for Ugo Scarnecchia as the Dragons’ head coach this year. “We have a strong team (with) a lot of upperclassmen coming back with knowledge of the game. We have a solid infield and hopefully (we’ll) build a seamless outfield this year. We have the ability to be tough offensively once everyone puts it together.”
