Brookfield, OH (WYTV) – Over the past five years, the Brookfield football program has turned things around in a big way. Starting in 1995, the Warriors toiled through 16 straight losing seasons, but since then, head coach Randy Clark has rolled off 4 straight winning campaigns, and this season, they’re looking for more.
The Warriors return nearly their entire team from their 6-4 season a year ago, including 10 starters on offense and 9 on defense, led by three-year starting quarterback Augustus NeCastro. And he’ll have plenty of targets to hit once again in their spread offense. Senior Kasey Tingler returns as a 4 year starter that can do it all, he’ll play receiver, cornerback, and be kicker this season. The Warriors also enter the All American Conference Blue Division, after being an independent since 2011. And they hope to kick things off with a bang…and put up a lot of points in the process.
“The offense is gonna be exciting,” said Clark. “We’re gonna throw the ball around. We’re gonna you know run the ball like we have to but up front, it all starts up front. And we’re more excited about having our front guys back more than anything.”
“I think we’re more hungry this year than we were last year,” said Necastro. “I thought last year, we thought maybe it was gonna be a little bit easier and we took a lot of teams for granted and that’s what happens when you go 6-4. I mean, we had aspirations last year to go undefeated, make the playoffs and make a run, that didn’t happen. This year, we need to make it happen.”
