YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A church in Youngstown is making it easier for people to prepare their Thanksgiving meals.
When cooking a Thanksgiving dinner, sometimes half the battle is getting the ingredients together.
The Place Where the Lord Provides Christian center on Evergreen Avenue had a busy night on Monday, putting together 500 turkey baskets. It is giving them away on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The church feels called to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and pray for everyone who comes to get the free items.
This is the seventh year the church has provided fixings for a meal, and even thrown in some extras.
“Not only is it turkeys, but 16 different items in the bag, including two rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, but also a dozen eggs this year,” Bishop Salina Covington said.
The baskets were also given to pastors of ten other churches to help feed their parishioners in need of a Thanksgiving dinner.
