(WKBN) – Many local organizations are helping provide food around the community.

The need is especially great in the area, as people have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you’re looking for help, the following organizations have upcoming food drives planned in the Valley:

Second Harvest Food Bank’s Traveling Food Pantry
Friday, May 22 at 11 a.m.
Canfield Fairgrounds
You need to enter at Gate 9 and exit at Gate 5. Make sure you have your trunk open and empty, cleared of any items. The distribution will be limited to the first 1,000 families.

Grocery giveaway at East Side Church of Christ in Warren
Saturday, May 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
1750 Niles Rd. SE (Route 169)
Drive-thru only. A registration form will be provided on the day of the event. One bag of groceries per car. First come, first served while supplies last.

Food distribution in New Castle, Pa.
Wednesday, May 27, from noon to 3 p.m.
Cascade Park in New Castle, Pa.
Jubilee Ministries and the Christian Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will be holding a 1,000 car capacity food truck to trunk food distribution.

The Oasis Food Ministry’s food drive
Drive-thru food distribution on Thursday, May 28 from 3-6 p.m at 39 Cherry St. in Columbiana. Make sure trunks are empty. For more information, call (330) 429-0887.

Drive-Thru Produce Giveaway at the Salvation Army
The organization will be holding a drive-thru produce distribution for the first 300 families on Friday, May 29 at 270 Franklin St. SE in Warren. Photo ID and proof of address are required.

Austintown Community Church’s food giveaway
Every Wednesday and the fourth Saturday of every month, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Austintown Community Church, located at 242 S. Canfield Niles Rd.

Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County: 724-981-0353
The warehouse handles the pre-packing of emergency food boxes for area agencies. Call Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. to be referred to the nearest food pantry and free meals in your area.

The church is distributing to-go bags of groceries in the parking lots of its Niles and Hermitage locations once a week. Pick up is first-come, first-served. The church can serve about 100 families each time.
Volunteers will load groceries into vehicles.
Distributions are at 5 p.m. Mondays at the Shenango Valley Mall, located at 3303 E. State St. in Hermitage (outside the door 2 entrance, near Firestone Service Center), and at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Eastwood Mall, located at 5555 Youngstown Warren Rd. in Niles (behind Ollie’s/Target).

Handing out bags of groceries for families from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For residents in Trumbull County. Clients can only receive assistance once a month and must have a photo ID and proof of residence showing current address. Only one application accepted per household.
