Poland bows out in Regionals

Canton, OH (WYTV) – The Poland boys basketball team fell to Akron St. Vincent St. Mary, 67-44 in the Division II Regional Semifinals Thursday at the Canton Civic Center.

The game was close early in the first quarter, but after a 9-9 tie, the Irish went on a 15-0 to break things open before halftime. Akron St. Vincent St. Mary forced turnovers that turned into easy points on the other end, helping them go into the break with a 30-14 advantage.

Poland would try to mount a charge in the second half, but the Irish continued to pressure defensively, which turned into transition buckets.

Josh Williams led the Irish with 25 points, while Jayvon Graves added 12. Akron St. Vincent St. Mary improves to 26-0 and will play Cleveland Central Catholic Saturday in the Regional Final.

Dan Black led Poland with 14 points, as the Bulldogs finish the season with a 23-3 overall record
