BEAVER FALLS, Pennsylvania (WYTV) – Beaver Falls overcame a two-point halftime deficit to knock off New Castle for the third time this year, 52-49. The Tigers outscored the ‘Canes 29-24 over the course of the final sixteen minutes.
# 9 New Castle (20-5) held a 25-23 at the half. Marcus Hooker (10 points, 6 rebounds) and Marquel Hooker (8 points, 5 rebounds) led the Hurricanes’ in the opening two quarters. For the game, Marquel scored 16 points while Marcus had 12 (10 rebounds) and Geno Stone finished with 10 points. Stone had a chance to tie the game with 0.8 seconds left but his three-point attempt fell short.
Beaver Falls, ranked #8 in the state, improves to 22-2 as they tally their 14th straight win.
The Tigers will face Indiana, who defeated Ambridge this evening 54-45, in the WPIAL Class AAA Championship matchup at the A.J. Palumbo Center this Friday at 9 pm.
