YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Fire crews were called back for a second time Friday after a fire broke out at a vacant house on West Delason Avenue.
The house sits near the intersection with Summer Street.
The house was engulfed in flames when crews initially arrived. A rekindle happened about 8:15 a.m.
The Battalion Chief on the scene says he believes the fire started in the basement.
The house was deemed too far gone, so firefighters let it burn while focusing their attention on saving the neighboring house.
Smoke bellowed into the air and ash fell for blocks as crews were battling the flames.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is in under investigation.
Summer Street is blocked off between Cohasset and West Delason because of debris in the road.
The vacant home was the scene of a triple homicide in December and is the second fire there within a month.
