YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — More details have been released regarding the fire at The University Courtyards on Youngstown State University’s campus Saturday evening.
The building was evacuated as a result. In the report provided by the Youngstown Fire Department, it says that the fire was set intentionally set using trash and other waste to ignite.
Youngstown Fire Department said the sprinkler system was able to put the fire out before crews arrived. However, there was extensive damage.
Reports said that the person living in the unit where it started was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown.
Firefighters said that three students were displaced and moved into other vacant apartments in the same complex.
The Youngstown Fire Department arson unit is investigating.
