Youngstown police say guns, drugs found in home of shooting victim

Local News

A man is recovering after getting shot several times on the west side of Youngstown.

Authorities say someone shot Elijah Johnson on Wednesday night through a glass door in the back of a house on Silliman Street.

A 40-caliber pistol with an extended magazine was found under Johnson by police, who also say they confiscated heroin from the house.

Police believe that Johnson’s criminal history is the key to this incident.

“This is a situation where this is a lifestyle choice that led to this incident,” said Police Chief Robin Lees. “This is not where there is a situation on the west side where someone is trying to burglarize homes or engaged in burglaries or something like that. This is typical of folks who are engaged in drug trade, and it’s unique to this situation.”

Johnson was last listed in critical condition at the hospital.
