YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Youngstown City School District (YCSD) revealed its 2016 Teacher of the Year Friday at William Holmes McGuffey Elementary School.
First Grade teacher Hannah Wine received the special honor. Fourteen teachers were nominated.
She told WYTV about one of the many things she hopes to accomplish as a teacher.
“I love that I get to help students, not only as first graders, but also when they become adults. What am I going to do as a first grade teacher to help them when they’re 30 years old? How can I help them build relationships? How can I help them be respectful to others, to be responsible for themselves? And that’s what really keeps me going, seeing my students blossom,” Wine said.
Wine will represent YCSD to compete for the honor of being selected as Ohio’s 2016 Teacher of the Year.
