Students at Western Reserve Elementary School are back in class and maybe even excited about it.

On Fridays in Jennifer Maust’s fourth-grade math class is when they can play Mathtopia.

It’s like a video game but through PowerPoint. Students learn how to work in groups to problem solve.

Student Maylin Hartzel said the best thing about Mathtopia is working through difficult problems with other students.

“In Mathtopia, we are all struggling with it, and you don’t have to feel bad because there are other people, and it’s just fun,” she said.

That’s the teacher’s goal — for all of her students to enjoy learning math.
