To encourage even more safety guidelines, these bears are wearing masks

CHAMPION, Ohio (WYTV) – A restaurant in Trumbull County came up with a creative way to practice social distancing.

Wayside Restaurant in Champion is putting stuffed bears in chairs, all wearing masks! They’re in the seats they don’t want people to sit in, plus, the bears can be a way to help kids feel comfortable.

Workers said they are following all safety guidelines like wearing masks and repeatedly washing their hands.

“We certainly haven’t been as busy as we were. We do have people coming in and we’re happy to see them. A lot of regulars. A lot of single people who’ve been trapped in their house for three and a half months that have been thrilled that we’re back open,” said server Melissa Bishop.

Condiments like salt, pepper and sugar are no longer on tables. Servers will give them to diners in individual packets.

Wayside reopened the first day they were allowed to, May 21.
