Warren Police sue city over promotions

Local News

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Warren police officers want a judge to force the city to fill three vacant ranks by promotion, despite the city’s plan to get rid of those positions.

The officers filed a lawsuit Wednesday, asking the city to promote the next eligible candidates to sergeant, lieutenant and captain.

Those posts were left empty by retirements. Back in November, Warren City Council passed a resolution to eliminate the three positions through attrition.WYTV news partner The Tribune Chronicle contributed to this report.
