Warren minority leaders pledge to collaborate_40263

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Leaders with a number of minority church and community organizations are pledging to begin working with each other to address concerns in the Warren area.

Directors with the Trumbull County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, the NAACP, the Warren Urban League and local clergy announced on Tuesday that they have formed a collaborative effort they are calling The Hub.

The organizations’ key players said they often find themselves sharing many of the same concerns over issues like neighborhood crime, education and political awareness, but historically have worked on their own.

“So we found if we could collaborate, we can come together, there are many things that overlap that are concerning all of us. And while each group has a mission and does an excellent job individually, together we can do so much more,” Alton Merrell of the Trumbull County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance said.

Organizers, along with Warren Mayor Doug Franklin, even signed their agreement and pledged to meet every two months to discuss issues affecting the community and look for solutions together.
