NEWTON TWP, Ohio (WYTV) – One man is dead in a mobile home fire in Newton Township early Tuesday morning.

The back bedroom of the man’s home in the Blue Water Manor Mobile Home Park was engulfed in flames when firefighters from five departmentsarrived at around 3:30 a.m. The Warren Township fire chief says the victim, Samuel Lapolla, 62, lived alone.

Neighbors tell WYTV the victim was in his 60s or 70s. He may have had a pet; there’s no word on what happened to the animal. No one else was injured.

Newton Falls, Lordstown and Milton Township firefighters also responded to the fire scene on Kings Drive SW in the mobile home park. The home is totally destroyed. A few adjacent trailers sustained minor damage.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the blaze. The trailer park is on Salt Springs Road in the township, close to the Ohio Turnpike.
