Suspect accused of breaking into Liberty home

LIBERTY, Ohio (WYTV) – Police charged a man with forcing his way into a house early Sunday morning.

According to a police report, 30-year-old Robert Calvin from Diamond, Ohio, kicked in a door at the home on Laurel Street around 2 a.m.

The resident of the home told police Calvin had been at his property earlier that evening but said he dropped him off at another location. He said Calvin returned later and attempted to kick down the front door. The homeowner called 911 but said before police could arrive Calvin was able to force his way inside the residence.

According to the police report, the victim stated Calvin assaulted him, striking him with his fists roughly 20 times. He also claims his prescription pills and wallet containing $200 were stolen at some point.

Once officers arrived the suspect took off running but was caught by police. He will be arraigned in Girard Municipal Court.

He was charged with aggravated burglary, obstructing official business and drug paraphernalia.
