SPRINGFIELD TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – A fire broke out late Wednesday night at a house in Springfield Township.
Crews quickly put out the fire on Beard Road, which started just before 10:30 p.m.
The family went to bed for the night when they heard an explosion. The homeowners (husband, wife, adult daughter and her child) all got out safely, according to Springfield Fire Chief Matt Gebhardt.
The enclosed front porch area was on fire, and the area did have free-standing propane heaters.
The county’s arson task force was called in to help determine the cause, but investigators don’t think it’s suspicious.
The house is still standing but a total loss.
Firefighters blocked off some roads while they were putting the fire out. Mutual aid from Beaver, East Palestine and Columbiana assisted.
The family is being helped by the Red Cross.
