YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Big plans were unveiled Friday about a $750,000 fundraising campaign to expand art education to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The All in One Campaign, announced Friday, will support the SMARTS (Students Motivated by the Arts) program by renovating new headquarters at the Ohio ONE Building and developing new programming. So far, the campaign has raised 64 percent — or $480,000 — toward its goal.

The SMARTS program currently serves more than 360 kindergarten through 12th grade students, bringing arts education classes in visual arts, music, dance, theater and creative writing to the Valley.

“It helps the under-served and those children who aren’t exposed to the arts on an everyday basis,” said SMARTS spokeswoman Greta Mittereder.

To help kick off the campaign, a first-ever SMARTSfest is planned for Saturday.

The free event will showcase local artists of all ages and will offer hands-on art activities for children.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in and around the Ohio ONE Building, on the corner of E. Boardman and S. Champion streets, in downtown Youngstown. More information on the event can be found at or on the organization’s Facebook page.
