A new detox center for recovering addicts with chronic medical problems is now open in Youngstown.
It’s located at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and is a partnership between the hospital’s foundation and the Neil Kennedy Recovery Center.
“The issue is it’s on site and the fact if something goes awry, we need to be able to navigate quickly for that patient without any hesitation and that’s what this partnership provides,” said Carolyn Givens, with Neil Kennedy.
Now patients don’t have to put their recovery on hold while they are being treated for medical problems.
In the month the center has been opened, it’s already helped nearly 60 patients.
Neil Kennedy has 16 detox beds at its centers.
