NILES, Ohio (WYTV) – Niles Police arrested a man early Sunday morning after they say he assaulted his girlfriend.

Dolan Ady, 44, of Niles, is charged with felonious assault. Police say he struck his girlfriend with a pistol.

Officers responded to the scene around 2 a.m. after receiving a call about a woman being pistol-whipped at a home on Carle Avenue.

When they arrived, police observed blood and several cuts on the woman’s face.

According to a police report, she told them that Ady hit her during an argument, but she wasn’t sure what he hit her with.

When officers asked Ady how his girlfriend got hurt, he reportedly told them she fell down the stairs.

Upon searching the home, police say they discovered a gun with what appeared to be blood on it and took it into evidence.
