POLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – A home on E. Western Reserve Rd. caught on fire around 6:30 Sunday morning.

The house is across the street from Molnar Farms in Poland, near Five Points where Youngstown, Pittsburgh, North Lima, Springfield and E. Western Reserve Roads meet.

A husband, wife and their animals were sleeping when the fire broke out. The man woke up to a bright glow and the smell of fire.

Poland Village Fire Chief David Comstock says the homeowner tried to put the fire out with a garden hose, but the fire spread to the attic, the first floor of the home and the basement.

Water supply was only one of the challenges crews faced.

“We also had a very stiff wind which added to the fire, and we had a natural gas line that runs natural gas to the house that broke, so that was also fueling the fire,” Comstock said.

Everyone made it out of the house without any injures, but the home is a total loss.
