Crash to blame for power outage in Mahoning County

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Hundreds of First Energy customers lost power Sunday in Mahoning County.

According to First Energy Corp. spokesperson, Lauren Siburkis, about 800 customers were affected.

The cause of the outage was an accident that happened on Sheridan Road. The crash took out a utility pole and a transformer.

Power was restored at 8:50 p.m. for most customers. Six customers were restored later due to some of First Energy’s equipment needing to be fixed.
