One year later: Valley residents charged in Jan. 6 riot

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKBN)- First News is going more in depth on the arrests connected to January 6th.

Authorities have arrested more than 700 people.

According to USA Today, 37 of them were from Ohio and 64 were from Pennsylvania. Several were from our area. All of them were charged with taking part in the riot either by participating, facilitating participation or impeding the investigation into the incident.

  • Stephen Ayers – Warren – Case pending. Next hearing Jan. 27
  • Kenneth Joseph Owen Thomas – East Liverpool – Case pending. Next hearing is Jan. 25
  • Matthew Perna – Sharon – Pleaded guilty Dec. 17. Sentencing is set for March 3
  • Debra Maimone – New Castle, Pa – Case pending. Next hearing is Jan. 22
  • Philip Vogel – New Castle, Pa. – Case pending. Next hearing is Jan. 22
  • Rachel Powell – Sandy Lake, Pa. – Case pending. Next hearing is Jan. 7
  • Peter Schwartz – Uniontown, Pa. – Case pending. Next hearing is Jan. 18
  • Julia Sizer – Ellwood City, Pa. – Pleaded guilty Nov. 4, 2021. Sentencing is set for Feb. 1
  • Jeremy Vorous – Meadville, Pa. – Case pending. Next hearing is March 7
