Niles police investigating argument between man, 2 teens caught on surveillance

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Niles Police are working to piece together what happened during an argument between an adult and two teenage boys.

Investigators say the issue involved two juveniles over the past two weeks.

Police say it happened on September 19, and the teenagers told officers they believed the man was trying to pull out a gun.

Investigators obtained pictures from the school and shared them on Facebook Tuesday morning.

They say within an hour the man stopped down to the police department to speak with officers.

Investigators say he acknowledged there was an argument over trash, and he told them he’d never threaten any child.

“The man during the interview acknowledged that he did not have a weapon with him and doesn’t recall ever indicating that he intended to harm them in any way,” said Captain John Marshall of Niles Police Department.

Police say they’ll be consulting with the prosecutor to determine how to proceed with the case.
