Youngstown’s newest judge is already on the job just hours after officially taking her position.
Monday morning, Renee DiSalvo took her oath of office for Youngstown Municipal Court with her husband, Mike, at her side.
Administrative Judge Carla Baldwin presided over the ceremony.
Judge DiSalvo then took time to thank the other judges in attendance for all she was able to learn from them during her years as an attorney practicing before them.
“I’ve been defense counsel, I’ve been plaintiff’s counsel, I was a prosecutor, I was a mediator and every time I was acting in those roles, the judges that were there influenced my life,” she said.
She was appointed by Gov. John Kasich to replace Judge Elizabeth Kobly, who resigned last month.
DiSalvo must win in November 2019 to keep that seat for the full term, which ends on January 2, 2020.
