Twenty salt trucks are circling about 500 miles across Mahoning County as the weekend snowstorm continues on Saturday.
The trucks placed down salt ahead of dropping temperatures and spent the afternoon clearing roads. As the storm continues, the trucks have to continue to maintain road conditions for drivers.
Mahoning County engineer Pat Ginnetti discussed what motorists should do as they are heading out.
“Roads are slippery. We have a lot of snow on the roads. Even once the plow goes through, you have residual snow on the road that can push your car one way or the other,” Ginnetti said.
He said to be cautious when clearing your own driveways. Do not push the snow back into the roads, which can cause problems for drivers and plow trucks.
