LOWELLVILLE, Ohio (WYTV) – Sources have identified the girl who died after being hit by a train in Lowellville Monday.

WYTV learned that the victim is Caitlyn Compton, 16, who was a student at Lowellville High School and Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.

Police in Lowellville and the Mahoning County Coroner are investigating the accident, in which Compton was struck by a train.

The accident happened about 6:45 a.m. Monday near train tracks just of Youngstown-Lowellville Road, near Lowellville High School.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Grief counselors are at the school’s campus Monday and will have counselors available when classes resume Tuesday.
