YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A number of local agencies are helping out to provide school supplies to those in need.

Mahoning County’s St. Vincent de Paul Society is holding a school supply distribution it its dining hall, located at 208 W. Front St. in Youngstown. The distribution will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 6 to provide supplies to about 500 local children.Supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and is open to Mahoning County residents only. Students must be present, and parent identification is required. More information is available on the organization’s Facebook page.

School supplies will also be distributed at Happy Campers Learning Center, located at 518 E. Indianola Ave. in Youngstown, as part of the third annual Back2School Trick or Treat event. Area businesses will come together to pass out school supplies to children in need.

Parents should bring their children and a bag to collect the supplies. The event will be from 3 to 6 p.m. August 28.

In Hubbard, Corner House Christian Church is holding its fifth annual Back to School Carnival with free school supplies. Children in kindergarten through eighth grade can get school supplies, participate in games and see race cars.

The event is from 3 to 6 p.m. August 14. The church is located at 6954 Chestnut Ridge Rd. in Hubbard.
