COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WYTV) – The man convicted of killing his estranged wife in Columbiana County learns his fate this morning in the county Common Pleas Court.
Nicholas Carosiello, 34, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Carosiello shot and killed his estranged wife Holly as she was climbing through a back bedroom window at the Township Line Road home back in August of 2011.
It took more than three years to bring the case to trial, but only four hours of deliberating for the jury to convict Carosiello of aggravated murder.
Holly’s family believes justice has been served.
“He has no remorse for what he’s done, he felt justified in his mind doing murder,” Holly’s older brother Shawn McElroy said. “I mean, that’s all there is to it. He was murdering someone that night, Holly happened to be there, and he took her life.”
Carosiello’s attorneys did state in court that they would be filing an appeal.
Meanwhile, Holly’s family plans to celebrate the verdict Friday afternoon with a balloon release at her grave site.
