LIBERTY TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – Charges have been filed against a Liberty School Board member after an incident on New Year’s Eve.
The board member is 67-year-old Calvin Jones, who serves as its vice president.
He is facing felonious assault and criminal damaging charges that were filed Monday morning.
At a Board of Education meeting on Monday, Jones told First News reporter Jacob Thompson that he did not know about the charges.
The charges stem from an incident on Fifth Avenue where Jones’ wife called 911 reporting her husband was hit by a truck in their driveway.
Jones later told dispatchers the truck would have a hole in the driver’s side window because he shot at it.
Thompson tried to talk with Jones at the meeting:
Thompson: “That’s why I’m here … Do you want to talk or…?”
Jones: “Nothing I can say to you at this point to help me.”
Thompson: “OK, but you weren’t aware of it until I just said something?”
Jones: “I wasn’t aware that there were charges filed.”
We don’t know if Jones will be arrested or when he would appear in court.
