BROOKFIELD TWP. Ohio (WYTV) – Investigators have identified a man who they say hit a teen walking in Brookfield Township Monday night.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 62-year-old Ronald Sanata, of Brookfield, hit 19-year-old Tyrone Cornish, who was walking with his girlfriend around 11 p.m. on Cleveland Street.

Cornish was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The girl was not injured.

Investigators say the driver left the area after hitting Cornish, but Highway Patrol got a tip about the car involved. Brookfield Police went to Sanata’s house and found the vehicle.

Police said Sanata admitted to remembering hitting “something.” Highway Patrol said alcohol was a factor in the crash, and charges were pending.

Police say the couple was walking with traffic, not against it when they were struck.

Cornish is expected to be released from the hospital soon.
