CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – Classes are being held as usual at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in Canfield on Tuesday.

The Cardinal Joint Fire District was investigating a situation at the North Turner Road school that made at least one student ill Monday afternoon. One student was taken to Akron children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley for breathing problems.

A school spokesperson told WYTV that investigators at MCCTC think the source may be an HVAC unit on the roof.

The fire department and contractors from the company that services the roof units were on the scene.

Everyone inside the building was evacuated and regular dismissal occurred since the incident happened at the end of the school day.

Emergency crews were initially called to the school about 1 p.m. Monday.

Evening adult classes were canceled on Monday.
