WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A former aide to State Senator Capri Cafaro acknowledged his bad decisions in court Thursday.

Jonathan Wike made a public apology before being sentenced for stealing thousands of dollars from Cafaro and his grandmother.

“I’m incredibly sorry for putting not only myself, but my family and everyone else through this matter, and I look forward to hopefully putting the matter behind me and moving forward with my life,” Wike said. “I’m gonna pay for these, the decisions I already made for the rest of my life. These are the choices that every day I wish I could go back and do things differently.”

Wike, now convicted of two felonies, will be on probation for five years. He will also have to pay Cafaro back the $75,000 he took on January 1st.

Even though his grandmother didn’t want restitution, Trumbull County Judge Ronald Rice sentenced Wike to ten days in jail for the thousands he took from her, too.
