YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The frigid cold is forcing many to take shelter at local missions, and when the the cold snap is as long as it has been, facilities can get overcrowded.
But it has always been the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley’s policy to not turn anyone away.
The beds are almost all filled at the Mission Monday, as almost 100 people stayed there overnight.
Right now there are less than five beds available, although volunteers are pulling out extra cots to make sure they have room for anyone else who needs a warm place to stay.
Even if those cots fill up, supervisors have said that they’ll find room.
