FAIRFIELD TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – A man from Columbiana was seriously injured Friday after crashing into the back end of an SUV, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The accident happened about 3:35 p.m. on Route 14, between Washingtonville and Columbiana, near Germantown Road.
According to the patrol, both vehicles were heading east on Route 14 when the driver of the SUV slowed to make a turn onto Germantown Road. The 31-year-old man driving the car, Daryl Kurtz, crashed into the back of the SUV.
Troopers say there was no evidence that Kurtz made an attempt to slow down or stop as there were no skid marks.
Kurtz suffered “incapacitating injuries,” according to the patrol, and was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The woman in the SUV was not injured and was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.
