Dumping has been a problem in Youngstown for many years. But Saturday afternoon a group on Youngstown’s East Side helped make it a little cleaner.
Members of St. Angela Merici’s Parish and neighbors spent Saturday cleaning up portions of Lincoln Park.
The park was full of old used tires, glass, and old shrubs.
Once the area is cleaned out the parish will put in fencing, as well as lighting and security cameras
“Something we’re really focusing on the last few years, especially this year, we’re putting up additional dumping cameras. We’re prosecuting more regularly, those people we catch on the dumping cameras,” said Jennifer Jones of Green Youngstown.
The parish says they were able to get this done thanks to a $20,000 grant to help clean up Lincoln Park written by Green Youngstown.
