COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – We haven’t even got to Halloween yet, but an event in Columbiana is prepping for Christmas a little early.
The 26th annual Christmas in the Woods event, hosted by Bone Appetite Bakery helped everyone get into the holiday spirit Sunday.
Sunday was the end of a two weekend run for the event, which takes place at the same location as Shaker Woods.
The event has been ranked #1 as one of the “Top 100 Best Classic and Contemporary Craft Shows” in the September 2020 issue of Sunshine Artist.
Hallmark has also ranked Columbiana as one of the “Top 25 Christmas Towns in the United States”.
Craftspeople and vendors were also at the event.
The promotor worked closely with the Columbiana Health District to be in compliance with state guidelines and mandates. The goal was to provide a successful show in a healthy and safe environment, according to the event’s Facebook page.
The event went on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and people were already lined up at 8 a.m.
Every year, this event brings thousands of people from all over the country.
The exhibitors demonstrated their crafts and sold a wide selection of handmade holiday items as well as traditional crafts.
One of the vendors Larry Kraus, owner of Kraus Creations, says he’s been a part of Christmas in the Woods for four years selling his handcrafted wood décor.
“People, the excitement, October time, summer’s over, Christmas, live music–just a wonderful time to see people gathered together and enjoy all the crafters and all the good food,” Kraus said.
Sunday was the last day of the event, but the event coordinator Ken McGraffic says it was a great outcome.
Social distancing rules were in place and masks were required. Only 3,200 people were allowed in at one time.
