The first phase of a project to build an all-inclusive playground in Canfield is complete.

The Walnut Grove is a playground for kids with special needs.

Half of the one-acre playground is finished, and there’s a parking lot with a bridge that connects to Mill Creek Park.

There’s more work to be done, however, according to Board President Amanda Watanakunakorn.

“We are 80 percent fundraised for this phase two. We still have about another 20 percent to go,” she said.

To get the next 20 percent of funding, the organization is hosting a fundraiser this weekend — the third annual Swing, Wine and Dine.

The event will be Saturday at the Maronite Center on Meridan Road in Youngstown.

Tickets are $50 or $500 for a table of eight.

The money raised will go toward the funding for the second phase as well as maintaining the park.
