LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a vacant house fire in Liberty Township early Thursday morning.

The call came in just before 1 a.m. at a home in the 1700 block of Liberty Avenue. Fire Chief Douglas Theobald says it appears to have started in a kitchen area, and they believe it’s suspicious. The home was vacant, and the utilities were shut off.

The kitchen and surrounding rooms were damaged by heat and smoke.

No one was inside, and no injuries were reported.
