ASHTABULA, Ohio (WYTV) – A major heroin operation in Ashtabula County was shut down. The drug dealing enterprise covered two states, 19 dealers and a cache of firearms and money.

A 61-count indictment charges several suspects from the Ashtabula and Cleveland area in connection to a drug conspiracy that brought large shipments of heroin to Northeastern Ohio.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Ohio, all 19 suspects are charged with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin in Ashtabula and Wheeling, West Virginia.

During the investigation, fourteen firearms, three vehicles and nearly $100,000 in cash were seized. A winning $50,000 lottery ticket was also placed into evidence.

According to the indictment, Rayshone Mitchell, 37, of Euclid and Jermaine King, 39, of Warrensville Heights, obtained the heroin from outside Ohio from early 2014 and passed it on to John and Jeanie Sabo, of Conneaut, to distribute to lower level dealers.

“These defendants profited off the pain and addiction of others,” said U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach. “They left behind a trail of broken lives and damaged families from Cleveland to Conneaut, Ashtabula and elsewhere.”

Some of the additional charges in the indictment include firearms, use of a telephone to commit a felony, using a residence to store heroin and firearms specifications.
