YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police arrested a woman in Youngstown after she reported her 12-year-old daughter missing over the weekend.
Desmonique Raquel Hammonds reported the girl missing from the Penn Hills area of Allegheny County, Pa. on Friday. According to the Allegheny County Police Department, Hammonds said her daughter ran away from their home, but she did not provide many details.
After the missing child report, Hammonds would not cooperate with police in the investigation, according to Lieutenant Jason Binder, of the Allegheny County Police Department.
On Saturday, investigators with the Allegheny County Child Abduction Response Team were called in and found that Hammonds fled from her home in a 2002 white Mercedes Benz C240 sedan.
Officers tried to pursue Hammonds but said she evaded police in Harmar Township. They later found her and her vehicle at a home in the 500 block of Boston Avenue in Youngstown on Saturday.
The FBI, a SWAT team and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were all on the scene, in addition to Youngstown police.
The 12-year-old girl was not with Hammonds, but she was later found unharmed in the Ohio area, according to police. Lt. Binder said police are still investigating what led to the girl’s disappearance and whether she did run away. Police would not say where she was found for safety reasons.
According to court records, Hammonds faces obstruction and fleeing and eluding charges, as well as several traffic violations.
