(WKBN) – On Thursday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced his nominee to be the first director of the new Department of Education and Workforce.
He’s Steve Dackin, who served as a member-at-large of the Ohio State Board of Education.
He was also previously a teacher and principal and worked as an administrator for the Ohio Department of Education. In June 2022, Dackin resigned due to scrutiny he was facing and also refused “any compensation for [his] service in that position.”
Dackin must be confirmed by the Ohio Senate.
