The defendant who pleaded guilty to shooting his co-worker at Walmart in Hermitage was sentenced to 18 to 40 years in a correctional facility.
Zachary McClimans was sentenced Thursday in the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas.
In April, McClimans pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the shooting of Jayson Hall at the store in November of 2016.
McClimans told police that he was transitioning his gender and felt threatened by Hall, his co-worker.
Police said he returned to the store after his shift and shot Hall four times.
